While speaking with the driver following the 2:20 a.m. stop on Hamburg Turnpike, Officer Corey Stevens noticed “an overwhelming odor of burnt marijuana,” Detective Capt. Laurence Martin said.
He then discovered a sealed black box labeled "Kingpen" containing a 1000mg cannabis vape cartridge with a significant THC concentration of 71.48%, Martin said.
The passenger was released at the scene.
The driver – 23-year-old Gina M, Bakari, 23, of Pompton Lakes --, was brought to headquarters, where, Martin said, a police matron found her carrying a hidden bag of pot.
Bakari was charged with drug possession and issued summonses for having drugs in the 2018 sedan, along with displaying or altering license plates, he said.
